Understanding Lactic Acid Metabolism
When the body breaks down glucose and other carbohydrates, such as during exercise, it creates lactic acid. Veillonella atypica is a strain of beneficial bacteria that converts lactic acid, which is a byproduct of fatigue, into short-chain fatty acids, which provide energy to your body's cells.
Veillonella atypica was discovered during a research study at Harvard's Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering analyzing the microbiome of elite endurance athletes, specifically marathon runners. Findings from pre-clinical studies showed improvement in endurance and recovery that were published in the Nature Medicine journal!

Through survey collection, we collected and tracked information about fatigue, quality of sleep, and physical activities to see if Veillonella impacted fatigue and energy levels.
This study validated that Veillonella consumed for 4 weeks significantly reduces multiple categories of fatigue in a sustained and enduring manner!
